Solar News 2010

If you plan on solar in the future, consider this.

Since solar prices are directly related to demand and demand is directly driven by government incentives, government policies around the world dictate whether or not it makes sense for you to install solar electric based on the prices they influence. The events of the stock market, and Spain (which had 41% of the solar market in ‘08) changing their incentive policy has led to stockpiles of solar panels globally, thus a decrease in price, for now. newsclouds.

This gives many people like us in northern climates the option of possibly going solar during this window of 2010. Yes, that’s right window, as the window opens in 2010 government policies around the world could begin to influence demand, and close the window for us once again. While the future is yet to play out, the history of the solar industry can tell us that these fluctuations are tied to the global economy now more than ever. This window, like anything is apt to be shut once economies around the world recover, and governments abroad are able to fund more green initiatives. If that is the case, the opportunity to go solar in Iowa may not swing back completely for some time.
